Seed Saving

Goodmorning gardeners!!

Do you love everything from your garden this year?

If the answer is yes then you should try seed saving!

Seed saving is a very effective and efficient method to getting the best harvests every year!

To begin, pick your best thriving and most productive plants. These plants will need active fruit or seeds on them for successful seed preservation.

Start the process by picking a ripened fruit. Cut and enjoy the fruit while making sure to set aside the seeds.

Next, wash your seeds. Bring a strainer over running water and gently massage any slime or gunk off of the seeds.  Removing any excess fruit residue is important to prevent molding on the seeds.

Then, pat dry the seeds with a clean paper towel. Keep the seeds resting on a paper towel, in front of a sunlight susceptible window for 2 hours.

Finally, transfer the seeds into a dry plastic bag.

Flowers: For flowers the process is similar. Find a dead or blooming flower and remove from the plant. Next, let the flower fully dry before bagging.

For storage:   Make sure after seeds are dried and bagged they are stored in a cool, dry and covered space, ready to be enjoyed next year!

This method works on most to all plants that produce fruit and flowers!

Keep growing and enjoy your day!
