
MLK Garden

As the season goes on we counties to see abundance in the gardens. Over here at MLK Early College we have the awesome opportunity to help create produce and add color and light to the school. A couple years ago we got the opportunity to create a garden here at the school and it has grown a long way. We started with having the garden on the side of the school with only a little area to work with, this garden did well but had much room for improvement. So last year we made the decision to move the garden to the front of the school to maximize sunlight, rainfall and visibility for the garden. Along with this change we placed lease metal buckets to grow all of our plants in and place mulch down as we do at all of our gardens. This change really helped the plants flourish and bring light to our little space. Today we are able to grow over 15 species of plants and have the opportunity to give some of this produce back to the community surrounding.
Similar to the Spiral Garden and East side, the MLK Garden is grown almost entirely from renewed products that have been previously thrown away or recycled. As well, everything grown in the garden is organic and grown with natural
